I'm an old man. I've lost my parents, my wife, extended family, dogs, cats, even places have changed irrevocably, they're "dead" in a way. He sounds like a fine man. Something I learned when I attended a support group after my wife died, it's that we wouldn't grieve if we hadn't had something wonderful to begin with. I learned this one on my own, the best memorial for all of them is to carry on, keep moving forward, and live the best possible life you know how to live. You take care.

R.I.P. to your Dad and thanks for the eloquent tribute. I lost my Dad a few years ago (because it was Covid times I had to see him through a window) and am in the process of losing my mother, I feel for you and wish you the best.

Beautiful tribute Arthur. I have tears in my eyes. His passing was hard but he was a blessing for you. I can from the photos of him his was stalwart, strident man. That is a blessing to have that in your life.

This is one of the main reasons I sold my beloved house in Minneapolis, to return to the house I grew up in, to take care of my elderly mom and dad. It has been good for all of us. I will not regret spending this time with my parents.

Very well put. I feel very bad for children who don’t have this opportunity in life. Caring for aging parents is a fundamental rite and I don’t know how one can move on with one’s life without the experience. I’ve been caring for my parents for the past five years. It had never been planned, but it quickly became the only thing to do and I’m forever grateful to be able to do it.
